Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 give people rights to access information held by Scottish public authorities.
All you have to do is ask for the information. You don't have to say why you want it, or what you want it for. We must respond to all information requests we receive. We will advise and assist you in making a request and provide the information within 20 working days.
Some types of information can be kept back for good reasons, but you will be given those reasons. If you don't agree, you have the right to ask for a review. This will be carried out by an independent officer within the Council.
If you are still dissatisfied, you can appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner. The Commissioner can use his enforcement powers to ensure that information is provided.
We welcome requests for information about the Council and the services we provide.
Making a request for information
Requests for information are best submitted in writing. This helps us find the information you need and let's us know how to contact you.

If you are looking for details of the information we hold about you|, then this is classed as Personal Information and is governed by the Data Protection Act (1998).
In this case we ask you to request the information using the Information Request Form| (PDF, 48Kb)You should complete this and send it to us with a £10 fee along with proof of identity.
