Employability Week is running again after the huge success of last year's inaugural event

A special week of events is being hosted by North Ayrshire Council to help people access the support they need to get into work or training.

Employability Week, launched last year, was such a great success that North Ayrshire Council and partners are running it again this week.

It will offer a series of community events, where experts will explain the various services that are available.

Events are being coordinated by the Council’s Employability Service’s Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire programme.

Residents can find out more about the wide range of opportunities available locally including: local job vacancies; how to retrain for a new career; discovering training options or find out more about college courses.

During this year’s Employability Week – between Monday, May 27 and Friday, May 31 – experts from Your Next Move, and partners, can provide information about opportunities, including:

Modern Apprenticeships – paid employment with learning on the job and working towards an industry qualification, with the Council recruiting over 30 young people this year including Electricians, plumbers, a joiner, early years, youthwork and business administration.

The Equal programme - a supported employment service for people with long-term health conditions and disabilities across North Ayrshire and

We Work For Families – an initiative supporting parents to prepare for and secure employment, education and training.

Events for the week include:

Tuesday

New Youth Hub Open Day, Stevenston Library 2pm - 4pm

The opening of a new employability hub for young people aged 16 to 24.

Wednesday

BBQ at Eglinton Community Gardens, Eglinton Park 11am - 2.30pm
