Selecting the right person for the job

We aim to select the most suitable person for each post based on their:

  • relevant skills
  • knowledge
  • qualifications
  • behaviours

We're an equal opportunities employer. No applicant is treated unfairly on any grounds.

We use Role Profiles, online Application Forms and Interviews to find the best person for the job. You'll need to provide evidence of how you meet the requirements of the post. This is through your skills, knowledge, qualifications and behaviours. You will have the opportunity to show this through your application and interview.

We recommend you read all of the information provided about the post before applying. Pay attention to the essential criteria and behavioural requirements as described in the Role Profile.

Role profile

For every council vacancy, there's a role profile. This gives an overview along with the skills, knowledge, qualifications and behavioural requirements.

Recruitment Panels use the Role Profile to shortlist candidates. They gather evidence of the applicant's overall competence.

Online application form and interview

Applicants must submit a completed application form to be considered for any of our posts.

All our application forms and interviews are behavioural based.

Successful applicants

Successful applicants will be initially advised that they are the 'Preferred Candidate'. North Ayrshire Council won't make any formal job offers until pre-employment checks are undertaken.
