Textile recycling

In partnership with Nathan's Wastesavers, banks are provided to recycle and reduce the amount going for final disposal. Please don't place any textiles in your blue, purple or brown recycling bins.

Charity shops and collection organisations

We support the work undertaken by charity organisations to reuse and recycle clothes and textiles. Please continue to donate to:

  • charity shops
  • textile recycling banks, or
  • a verified charitable collection service

When using a collection service, ensure they are collected by the appropriate organisation.

Good quality textiles may be sold or sent for reuse. Lower quality materials are shredded and used for:

  • industrial wipes
  • sound proofing for the automotive industry
  • carpets
  • underlay, and
  • mattress linings

Our Enforcement Team check these sites for fly tipping. Don't leave any bags outside the textile banks, take them to another nearby site or a charity shop. When bags are left outside, the clothes can get wet and spoiled and cannot be recycled.

Textile recycling bank locations

If you have space for a textile recycling bank, email our Waste Awareness team.
