Naming ceremony
A naming ceremony is a special way of welcoming a child into a family and community. Although not a legal ceremony, it's an occasion for parents, family and friends to offer their love and support for a child.
Naming ceremonies can be conducted for children of any age. Children over 10 years of age must give their written permission.
Ceremony venues
Contact the registrar to organise a naming ceremony. It's important to secure a date and discuss your ceremony.
You can have your naming ceremony at:
- your local registration office
- a venue agreed by the local authority and the customer
To view our ceremony rooms before you book, contact your local registration office.
You will need
A birth certificate for the child, or children, involved in the naming ceremony.
