Renew vows
You and your partner may wish to renew your vows to reaffirm your commitment to each other. You can have a personal ceremony and invite and involve your children, family and friends. You may decide to have a renewal ceremony to celebrate an anniversary, or as a second ceremony following a marriage abroad.
Where can I renew my vows?
You can have your renewal ceremony at:
- your local registration office
- any venue agreed by the local authority and the couple
You should contact the Registrar well in advance to secure a date and discuss your ceremony, especially for popular locations and times of year.
What documents do I need?
A marriage or civil partnership certificate must be produced by couples as evidence they have previously had a legal ceremony.
The content of the new ceremony will refer to the fact it's a 'renewal' ceremony. It is not a legal ceremony.
When are vow renewals conducted?
Civil ceremonies can be carried out on any day except for 25 and 26 December or 1 and 2 January. Please view our schedule for times.
Fees
A non-refundable £55 booking fee is payable at the time of booking, which will be deducted from your final Renewal Ceremony fees.
