Personalised accessibility
Modern devices and web browsers come packed with useful accessibility features. Find out how to access Microsoft high contrast mode, increase font size and more below.
Increasing text size
To increase the size of text and all other elements across the website on a desktop device, take the following steps for Windows and Mac devices:
Microsoft high contrast mode
If you struggle with any of the bright colours on the Council website, Microsoft high contrast mode can help by simplifying page layouts and darkening colours. To use this feature, you must be using a Windows desktop device.
To activate Microsoft high contrast mode, press the shift key, alt key, and the print screen key all at the same time. Pressing the keys together, a small prompt should appear with information on high contrast mode. Simply press Yes to proceed.
To disable Microsoft high contrast mode, simply press the shift, alt, and the print screen keys together.
If you have any issues with the keyboard shortcut, high contrast mode can be activated in your user settings. Simply navigate to your settings application, click Accessibility from the left-hand menu, select Contrast-themes, and choose one of the contrast theme options.
