Arran Housing Survey Privacy Statement

North Ayrshire Council and the Arran Housing Task Force are committed to ensuring the voice of our residents are heard and your opinions are captured through this survey.

The Arran Housing Task Force are the recognised body that aim to work effectively and collaboratively on issues relating to housing on Arran. The function of the Arran Housing Task Force is to support an evidence-based assessment of demand for affordable housing on Arran and identify actions to address the outcomes of the assessment.

The results of the survey will go towards helping shape future housing provision on Arran. The Arran Housing Task Force are looking for responses from all Arran households, regardless of if you own or rent your home. We are also looking to gain further information from those that work on the island, Arran-based employers, landlords, second/holiday homeowners, short term let owners, and empty homeowners as well as those wishing to move to the island. The results will be analysed in addition to the housing needs and demand assessment.

A series of areas have been identified for community engagement.

We are seeking feedback on areas such as:

  • Housing profile
  • Future housing need
  • Accessible housing
  • Household income
  • Housing supply
  • Second homes, short/long term lets, and empty homes
  • Employer accommodation

What personal data is being collected?

The survey asks a range of questions including which area you live in, your postcode, how long you have lived in the area, the capacity in which you are completing the survey under, type of accommodation you currently reside in, property ownership, household details and relationship, current and future housing needs, your age, your gender, if you have a disability, employment status, your household income, your North Ayrshire Housing Register status, and details of your business and employee recruitment (if applicable).

How is your personal data being processed?

Your survey responses will be used for the purpose of research and analysis to inform the assessment of housing need and demand on Arran.

All personal data collected by the North Ayrshire Council for the purposes of the Arran Housing Survey, on behalf of the Arran Housing Task Force, will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR Article 6 (a) Consent: the individual has given valid consent for you to process their personal data for a specific purpose.

Any comments identifying individuals will be anonymised. We do not use any of your responses for the purposes of direct marketing.

How long will your personal data be stored for?

The survey results will be analysed by a restricted number of authorised officers within North Ayrshire Council only. Thereafter, the aggregated data will be combined to produce a final report and raw data deleted securely in line with the Council’s retention and data protection policies after 12 months from the closure of the survey.
