Primary school enrolment

Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1 March 2025 and 28 February 2026 are eligible to start primary school in August 2025.

How to register

Registration for primary education starting in August 2025 is an online process.

Register for primary form

Registration will close on Sunday 24 November 2024.

What happens next

Once you have completed and submitted your registration form, your child’s details will be forwarded to their registered school. If additional supporting documents are required, the school will request these and make arrangements for you to present them.

The school will contact you by May 2025 about any induction arrangements.

Key information: Registration at your catchment area primary school does not guarantee entry to that school.

School catchment area

Find your local school using YourLocation or contact your local primary school for details on the area it serves.

Gaelic provision

As a parent/carer you have the right to apply for a place at Whitehirst Park Primary School’s Gaelic Provision. You do not need to be a Gaelic speaker yourself.

Placing request

You have the right to request a place for your child to attend a school outside your catchment area. You must register your child at their catchment primary school before applying for a Placing Request. The closing date for placing requests is 6 December 2024. You will be notified of a decision by 30 April 2025.

Additional support for learning

If you feel that your child may need additional support when they start school, see additional support for learning.
