Report fly tipping or posting

To report fly tipping, or posting, tell us where it is and what it is.

Our teams remove litter, illegally dumped waste, and antisocial debris from public areas.

Fly tipping

Fly tipping is illegal dumping of waste on land, or in water. Waste is usually dumped to avoid disposal costs.

Fly posting

Fly posting usually involves posters, stickers, or signs that are put up without the permission of the property owner. It is a criminal offence. See our fly posting policy.

Fixed penalties

Working alongside Community Police Officers, we carry out regular patrols throughout North Ayrshire. These officers can issue fixed penalty fines.

The penalty fine for:

  • fly tipping is £500
  • fly posting is £80
Pay a fixed penalty form

Failure to remove waste after a fixed penalty has been issued may result in an extra charge for removal and disposal costs.

Failure to pay a fixed penalty can result in action by Sheriff Officers or the Procurator Fiscal. If you are prosecuted, you may face a jail term and £40,000 fine. Vehicles used to carry out the crime can be seized and destroyed.
