Report a road fault
Please note: If a road or footway defect is causing a clear and immediate danger (high risk to loss of life or limb), you should treat it as an emergency. Phone 01294 310000 to report.
Trunk roads
Trunk roads (A78, A737, A738) connect major cities, towns, airports and ports. These are maintained by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland. To report a problem with a Trunk road contact Amey directly at SW Trunk Roads.
Traffic signals
Traffic signal/traffic light faults should be reported to the contact centre, phone 01294 310000.
Report a road fault
Use this form to report a road fault (including flooding on a public road). You will be asked:
- to enter a description of the fault and location
- to give details of nearby landmarks or addresses to help with locating the fault
- for a contact email address for us to send an update - please note: updates will come from 'wdm-no-reply@mail.highway-iams.uk' - please check junk folder and be advised that this email does not receive emails
- for a contact phone number if we need more information
- if attaching photographs, a close up image along with a wider angle showing the location is helpful
Please note: We may have to close a report without action if we can't locate the fault.

- Add your details to the existing fault if you want to receive updates.

Your report will be processed to the relevant service immediately, or on the next available working day.
We'll locate and inspect the fault. Inspections usually happen within 5 working days unless it is an emergency.
Depending on the severity of the fault, we'll carry out repairs as follows:
- Category 1 - we aim to make safe at time of inspection, or within 4 hours
- Category 2 - within 5 working days from date of inspection
- Category 3 - within 60 working days from date of inspection
- Category 4 - consider for planned works programme
- No response - no action required
Please note: Circumstances beyond our control, like adverse weather, may have a detrimental affect on response times.
